Mary, a full-time professional artist, has painted and drawn since childhood. Although she put her career on hold to raise her family, she returned to it as soon as her children were grown. In her pursuit of intense and moving figure studies, Mary hired her own models to come and pose for her paintings. Capturing expressions of pathos and mystery in the figures she paints, Mary explores the illumination qualities of light, resulting in a body of stunning figure studies. Ethereal beings and intensely intimate moments are the subjects of Mary's inspiring canvases. Theatrical lighting and an obsession with form and color creates striking visual images which are interpreted in her figurative paintings as well as her landscapes and still lifes.
